]]> /todays-birthday-hugh-obrian-2024/ Fri, 19 Apr 2024 14:08:10 +0000 /?p=36525 It’s April 19, and actor Hugh O’Brian was born on this date in 1925.  In entertainment, he is perhaps best known for playing the title character in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, but one could argue that Hugh O’Brian has had a bigger impact on teenagers.  That’s because he founded the in 1958, and to date more than 500,000 students have attended a HOBY event at the state or national level.  The events allow students to meet peers from around their state and enhance their service and leadership skills in the process.  Like Hugh O’Brian, we believe that homeschooling students in our accredited high school program have the potential for greatness, and so we are happy to share information about groups such as HOBY whenever we can.  Thank you for making us your distance education high school!

]]> /todays-birthday-selena-2024/ Tue, 16 Apr 2024 13:52:57 +0000 /?p=36465 It’s April 16, and today’s blog remembers Selena on what would’ve been her 53rd birthday.  She was known as the Queen of Tejano Music but another title she had was »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ Graduate.  Selena was a child prodigy in music and by the time she was ready to begin high school, her family decided to enroll her in our accredited high school program.  She took our high school correspondence courses and earned her accredited high school diploma as her musical career continued to flourish.  Although she did not lead a long life, she led an impactful life, and we are proud to count her among our graduates.

]]> /2024-convention-4-thsc-called-to-teach-convention-fort-worth/ Wed, 10 Apr 2024 13:09:02 +0000 /?p=36370 American School’s fourth convention appearance of 2024 will occur next week at the THSC Called to Teach Convention in Fort Worth.  Visit us in booth 203 at the Fort Worth Convention Center on Thursday, April 18, from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; on Friday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  We will have information about our accredited middle school courses and accredited high school courses which homeschool students may take individually to enrich an existing homeschooling program or collectively to complete entire grade levels and ultimately earn an accredited high school diploma.  People say everything is bigger in Texas, and this convention verifies that statement.  We look forward to meeting many residents from the Lone Star State next week, including you, so make plans to join us in Fort Worth!

]]> /todays-special-occasion-the-100th-day-of-2024/ Tue, 09 Apr 2024 13:57:01 +0000 /?p=36340 It’s April 9, and today is the 100th day of 2024.  The number 100 is significant to us at »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ because 100 is the highest score a student can receive when he or she submits an exam while doing our at home middle school or at home high school courses.  Students who take our online middle school courses or online high school courses must do their exams online, but students who take our paper-based middle school courses or paper-based high school courses can do exams for most of those courses online if they so choose.  The notable exceptions would be for paper-based math courses.  Exams for those paper-based courses must be done on paper.  All of us want to see you succeed and even get perfect scores of 100 on every exam you submit, but if you come up short of that number, we will offer positive feedback so that you can do better on future exams.  Experience all of this for yourself by today!
